Tiny Dancer

Yes, that’s right!  We’re about to have a tiny dancer on our hands.  Yesterday Shannon and I received a phone call from Angela’s Academy of Dance (formally Southern Sass Dance Studio) that they had an opening for Addison in their summer camp.  The summer camp series is for ages 2-4 and the theme this year is Princess Adventures.  Addy loves dancing and music, so we’re hoping she will enjoy this camp.  It is geared for 2-4 year olds and introduces them to the performing arts - ballet, tap, creative movement.  They also have games and crafts too!!  The camp is every Monday from 5- 6:30pm in July!  I’m so excited and Addy was really interested in the class rooms when we toured their facility.

If she enjoys it, which I am sure she will, we talked about enrolling her in the studio’s dance classes for ages 2-3.  The classes are creative movement classes as well, and they have recitals once a year.

I have also been talking to some parents about the Music Together local program here in town.  You can find more information at the Music Together national website.  The jest is Music Together introduces children to the pleasures of making music instead of passively receiving it from CDs or TV.  They are allowed to play various instruments, and learn about each one while we sing songs.

Addy has an uncanny love of music and can carry a tune and dance to the exact beat of a song.  She always wants us to play instruments while we sing.  She most always wants to play the keyboard or drums while mama plays the tambourine!  Which is about as far as my talents go anyway.  She also is in love with the “Free Credit Report.Com” commercials where the guy is playing a guitar and singing.  She just stares so lovingly at the TV like she is in love with the guy.  Yes, this scares mama how involved she is into some guy with at guitar.  And let’s not forget, she danced the night away at the No Doubt concert.

And as my mom will tell you (except for the dancing), Addy didn’t get her musical inclination from ME.  LOL.

Big Girl Bed

Addy is growing.  So much so she’s growing right out of her crib despite my best efforts to stop time.  She isn’t comfortable I know, and when she rolls just ever so slightly she hits the side rails.

So, Daddy and I decided it was time she got a big girl bed of her own.  Now, we know her sleeping hasn’t been any better (remember an earlier post?), and she ends up in the bed with us a lot, but we are *hoping* that with a more comfy mattress (like our bed) and a bigger area to roll around in (like our bed), that maybe she would sleep better.  And our bedtime routine would be more structured.

So I’d like to introduce Addy’s new Big Girl Bed!  We talk about her new big girl bed and she’s excited about it.  Akins Furniture (aka Dogtown) ordered it Monday.  They said it would be 3-5 weeks!  It’s the Ashley Furniture Cottage Retreat collection.  Why Akins, well, they were easily 350 dollars cheaper than Ashley’s retail store, not to mention more than that if Ashley hadn’t been offering  a 10% off sale.  So, I’m sure the savings is truely much more than 350.  All our furniture (except our entertainment center) came from Dogtown so I highly recommend them.  Excellent service, unbeatable prices, none of that crazy overhead - and it’s no surprise they still make money!

Her room is going to be pink stripes (yes, that’s partly my weekend project to start).  I know it’s going to be an ongoing process, but maybe in a few weekends…of taping, and a weekend of painting…and another weekend of retaping…and another weekend of painting again…we will have a new room!

Mama, boo boo.

I have a funny story to share.  Addy and I ate at McDonalds by ourselves last night (Daddy had some football obligations).  Well, after we finished, we went home and I sat outside sorting through the mail while Addy played in the yard.  Well, she comes up to me and points to a spot on her foot where her shoe rubbed a blister ages ago and says “Addy boo boo”.  “Yes, sweetie, Addy has a boo boo” I said.  She then points to my face and says “mama boo boo”.  I felt my face and of course couldn’t remember getting scratched or hurt, so I said “no baby, I don’t have a boo boo”.  She persisted and I just thought it was usual toddler babble. So I kept telling her I didn’t have a boo boo.

Well, it was getting late, so we to into the house to use the restroom and while washing my hands, I realized I had ketchup on my cheek left over from supper.  I must have missed a spot with my napkin.  LOL.  And so, yes, Mama had a boo boo.

Gabriel’s Birthday Party

At the end of May, before our trip to the beach, Addison helped her cousin Gabriel celebrate his birthday!

Of course, we took a trip to IKEA the Sunday after his party.  Click the link for Gabriel’s birthday pictures, but I loved this one of Addy and Grandma!
